Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII box art unveiled

Even though Lightning won’t be returning to our television screens till February next year, Square-Enix have released the box art to the eagerly awaited Final Fantasy XIII-2 sequel: Lightning Returns. You can see the box art in all its glory below.

Even though I thought the original FFXIII was poor, due to is over-linear gameplay and boring storyline…I have to admit this game looks to be on a complete different level to its prequels.

This time round, it is believed that you only take control of the heroine in a battle system that mixes some elements of the previous games and also adds the dressphere system that initially featured in FFX-2.  I don’t really want to get into too much depth about the gameplay as this is just a news update. You can see the gameplay in action by checking out Lightning Returns’ gameplay video below.

I must say, having got hands-on with this at Gamescom, I was super impressed with the battle system. For a current gen game too, the game was running really slick.
