Request: Bayonetta and Wonderful 101 to star in Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS

I am part of the huge crowd that is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Super Smash Bros on both Wii U and 3DS. The series first made its debut on the Nintendo 64 in 1999. Since then, it has become one of Nintendo’s greatest IP’s. Well it has for me anyway.

We got to see the first gameplay footage of Nintendo’s latest addition to the Super Smash Bros series via their E3 Nintendo Direct session, which saw Megaman, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer make their entry into the series. Since then the following characters have been confirmed for its roster:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Bowser
  • Donkey Kong
  • Pikmin and Olimar
  • Link
  • Samus
  • Fox
  • Kirby
  • Pikachu
  • Pit
  • Megaman (debut)
  • Villager (debut)
  • Wii Fit Trainer (debut)

Those are just the 14 confirmed characters so far. Super Smash Bros Brawl had a total of 39 playable characters and I can imagine the latest rendition hitting around the 50 character mark. Hopefully 2 of those characters are Bayonetta and Wonder Red, of  The Wonderful 101!

I feel that both of these characters can add a lot to a game like Super Smash Bros. Both of them could potentially have an extremely in-depth arsenal of attacks. With both The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 being exclusive to the Nintendo Wii U, there is every chance of this actually happening. So I don’t see why not?

Also, there is currently a petition to get Reggie Fils-Aime, the President and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, into the game as well. It would be absolutely hilarious to see him in the game and would be a fantastic addition to the roster. Come on Sakurai! Get the Regginator in the game!

Interesting, I still haven’t bought the Wii U cos despite all these games coming out I’m not down with that. But who knows if Smash could change my mind, other than that good article.

The thing with Bayonetta is that, that IP is owned by Sega, so Sega would need to OK it for her to be added to Smash Bros. They’re acting as a “Supervisor” to Bayonetta 2 but I don’t think that means anything other than having their name attached to the game.

Nintendo could have made a deal with Sega to include her in Smash Bros, back when they made the deal to fund Bayo 2. Also Sakurai did say that there would be limited number of 3rd Party Characters with Mega Man being a “Special Case”, plus she’s highly sexualised, she’d have to be really toned down for this sort of game.

The Wonderful 101 is different as that project was solely funded by Nintendo so they probably own the full rights to that.

expect a gimiped bayonetta, kids version

  4. Ro says:

Nintendo said that they were keeping the same amount of character in the new SSB so don’t expect 50, expect around 42 max

  5. Blade says:

I hope Bayonetta is left out…people need to stop wanting her. Sega gave us Sonic that is all we need. Screw Bayonetta. We dont need a slutty character like that in a Smash game. Nugh said

  6. Blade says:

We will be lucky to have over 30 characters BTW. Sakurai already said there is not enough time to bring them all back so dont expect stupid characters/one-time characters like ROB, Wolf, MetaKnight, King Dedede, etc.
