Super Mario Kart is 21-years-old today and still my favourite of the series

If Super Mario Kart were a human being, in America it would legally be old enough to consume alcoholic beverages and will also be allowed to gamble in the City of Sin – Las Vegas. That’s right, today marks the 21st year of Super Mario Kart’s release in Japan.

The game played a huge part of my childhood. Although I never actually owned a Super Nintendo as a child, I frequently played it at a friends house and till today, I have not had that same excitement with any other game in the series.

I can still remember today the first time I played on Rainbow Road, continuously falling off the edge of the railless circuit and going into furious rage….ahhhh the good old days.

As I said earlier, Super Mario Kart is still my favourite in the series. I just don’t have as much fun with the other games, I don’t know if it solely down to me reminiscing the days of playing the game with my friend, or if I actually think the game is better. Although saying that, I did have a lot of fun with both the Mario Karts on the DS systems.

Super Mario Kart was the 4th most sold game on the SNES/Super Famicom.

It’s also my favourite Mario Kart game and I still play it today.

The newer ones are good in their own ways and of course they have to add things each time but the simplicity of the first always lures me back to it.
